Easy As Pie...

...or Cobbler

Today I am linking up with Heather and Johannah to bring you my all time favorite Peach Cobbler.  Not only is it super EASY to make but it is also DELICIOSO and who doesn't love easy and delicious...

This recipe has been in the family for as long as I can remember.  It was being made for dessert long before I ever began cooking for myself or my family.  It can also be found in one of my all time favorite cookbooks...Watt's Cooking.  It is a local cookbook sold by our Electric Membership Company.  I have been cooking out of mine for over 20 years.  (Yikes, that makes me sound really old)

This recipe is also extremely versatile.  It is listed in the book as "Cherry Cobbler" but you can substitute the Cherry Pie Filling for whatever fruit filling that you'd like...apples, peaches, blackberries;

I ALWAYS choose Peach!

INGREDIENTS:
1 stick of butter
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of flour (I use AP flour)
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 cup of milk
1 can of fruit pie filling

Preheat your oven to 350.

Begin by melting 1 stick of butter in an oven safe dish...

While the butter is doing its thing, mix together your dry ingredients...sugar, flour, baking powder, salt

Once the butter is melted, remove from oven and add to your dry ingredients.

Begin mixing the butter into the sugar/flour mixture and then add the milk.

Stir/wisk until combined.

Next, pour the combined "batter" back into your oven safe dish.

Now, begin evenly spooning your fruit pie filling on top of the batter.

IMPORTANT:  DO NOT STIR!

At this point, your fruit filling will be sitting atop your wet batter and that is exactly the way you want it.  Also, make sure to get all the gooey "jelly" filling stuff out of the bottom of the can...this creates the absolute BEST ooey gooey yumminess once baked off.

Bake for 45 minutes -1 hour.

VOILA!!!

Please notice how the batter bakes up and around the fruit filling...it is no longer just lying on top.

Now, this next ingredient is not called for in the recipe but in our home it is an absolute MUST HAVE when enjoying this cobbler...

ICE CREAM!

I promise you this cobbler will not disappoint!

What is your favorite cobbler flavor?

Until Next Time,
Heather
