It's Finally Friday

...and I couldn't be happier.

I hate that I live for the weekends.  I feel like Monday thru Thursday just gets lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life...work, school, homework.  I must learn to SLOW down and make the most of every day, not just Saturday and Sunday.

Anyway, it's Friday now and I am excited about our plans for tomorrow.  Heading north for some exploring in Highlands, NC.

The weather forecast is definitely a FAVORITE!

Speaking of FAVORITES, Z and I were able to sneak in a date night last Saturday.  We headed to Anderson, SC for dinner at Hooter's followed by a trip to Denver Downs.  We enjoyed getting lost in the corn maze.  We did better than last year...we were able to find 8 of the 12 checkpoints.  I think that we could have found all 12 but decided to throw in the towel so that we'd have time to ride the hayride.

Another FAVORITE of the week is my new crossbody bag.  I had some Kohl's cash that was burning a hole in my pocket (& expiring) so I splurged and got myself a new bag.  I had been thinking of trying out a new style because apparently I have sloped shoulders.  All of my other bags, no matter the size, fall off my shoulders.  Do you know how aggravating that is?
So I went with the following:

Kohl's

I have used it now for 2 weeks and so far I LOVE IT!
It is a good bit smaller than what I am used to carrying, so that has been an adjustment, but I love how it keeps all of my valuables on my person all while keeping my hands free.

Totally switching gears but I feel like I must share...I tried a new deodorant and it is the bomb. dot. com...
Degree Shower Clean
I have always been a "Secret" girl but Walmart was out (shocking, I know)*insert rolling eye emoji* so I was forced to try something new
BUT
it has turned into a favorite.
It does the job, even after a hard workout, but isn't to overpowering or strong.
AND, it's affordable.

Another FAVORITE from the week has been watching

It is funny, light hearted and makes me feel like I'm not failing my family after all.  If you haven't seen this sitcom yet, check it out.  It airs on ABC, Tuesday's @ 8:30.

And in other entertainment FAVORITES, I am in love with Google Play.
I kind of feel like I'm cheating on Pandora but Google Play allows me so many other options.
I have created multiple playlists as well as listening to the stations that they have created.

One of my most FAVORITE features of Google Play is this...

When music is playing on any device...my phone, the computer, the radio; you can choose "Identify what's playing" and it will pull up the song and artist; from there you can add to a playlist.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy!!

Obviously it doesn't take much to impress me.

There you have it, a few of my FAVORITES from the week.
Linking up with some of my FAVORITE bloggers AndreaErika and Narci so check out their favorites as well.

What are you loving this week?

Heather

What we've been up to...

Since the beginning of August we have had Cheerleading and we finished that up this past weekend.
Our boys played so well throughout the season that they secured themselves a place in the playoffs but unfortunately did not pull out a win in the first round.

Only 1/2 of my squad...
It's bittersweet really...as I am ready to have my Saturday's back, but I WILL miss my girls!

What I'm dreading...

Christmas shopping

I love Christmas but shopping during Christmas is so stressful!!!

What I'm working on...

Developing my blog.

I started this blog over a year ago but I have yet to develop a consistent posting schedule.  I have a dream about what I want my little space to become and have been hard at work to come up with a plan that will allow me to, one day, achieve my blog goals.

What I'm excited about...

It airs on NBC, Tuesday's @ 9:00.

You can watch the previous episodes here, which is what I did last week during my lunch breaks.

What I'm wearing...

I have mentioned before that it has finally turned Fall in N. Georgia so I have been wearing a lot of the following...

Blanket Scarf
Puffer Vest

Flannel Button Front Shirt @ Kohl's
 Fringe Scarf

Booties

Women's Simply Vera Vera Wang Slimming Skinny Jeans
Vera Wang Skinny Jeans @ Kohl's

And much to my husband's dismay, I have been wearing these on repeat...

I mean...if you don't love a cozy pair of flannel lounge pants, I'm afraid we just can't be friends.

What I'm doing this weekend...

The 3 of us are heading north to Highlands, NC for a little hiking, waterfall chasing and leaf viewing.

I'm most excited about viewing the following 2 Falls:

Dry Falls

Bridal Veil Falls

Obviously those are NOT my images but aren't they beautiful!?

Hoping to see some great Autumn leaf colors while hiking Whiteside Mountain in the Nantahala National Forest.

What I'm looking forward to next month...

Watching the 90th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

It isn't Thanksgiving in my home until I have watched the Parade.  I cuddle up by the fire with a warm cup of coffee and spectate from the comfort of my couch.
But one of these years, just once, I want to watch from the streets of NY.

What else is new...

Nothing new to note on the home front...just business as usual.

Work. Home. Repeat.

BONUS QUESTION
What is my favorite Halloween memory?

So I am going to share with you a Halloween memory from my childhood.
We lived in a rural community and 30+ years ago there weren't any local subdivisions or Trunk or Treats hosted by our local church for us kids to Trick or Treat.  What that meant was you went to neighboring family and friends homes, got out of the car...ran to the door...got back in the car and drove for several miles before doing it all again.

There was this one house in particular that I always remember having spooky, scary decor.  It was a bit intimidating walking up to their door when it was just you and your younger brother.  But given the limited number of houses that we were able to visit, I certainly didn't want to NOT Trick or Treat there.

So I knocked, went inside (which is unheard of this day and time), reached my hand in the candy dish and BAM...someone, something grabbed my hand.

My oh my...my heart still skips a beat when I think about it.

AND...I still remember exactly where that house is.

Corn dog anyone?

A couple of Sunday's ago the majority of the Fam and I (we were missing 2) took off on little trip to Perry, GA.

For 2 weeks every October the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricultural Center hosts the Georgia National Fair.  We started our fair tradition last year and I was very excited that we were able to make time to continue the tradition.

For us it is about a 3 hour drive to Perry so we set out nice and early.  After stopping in Macon for breakfast, we arrived at the Fairgrounds around 9:30.

First up...Jr. Dairy Showmanship.  After watching the cow show for about an hour we headed out to the cow barn to take a look see at the show cows.  We made it just in time to see the Mayfield Dairy milking demo.  They were also giving away TruMoo...the best chocolate milk that you will EVER have the pleasure of drinking.

Before heading over to the Midway for the rides, we strolled through the Scarecrow Exhibit.  This is always so fun to see all the creativity from the participating schools.

My favorite scarecrow...

Spongebob Square Pants!

Runner up...

the Pirate.

Honorable Mention...

the Tin Woman.

Next up...the Midway Rides

So glad that AB had Cam to ride with her so
while the girls did this...

We did this...

Next up...Mutton Bustin

This event is probably my most favorite to watch.  Children, ages 4-7, attempt to bare back ride a sheep for 6 seconds.  If they can manage to hold on for a 6 second ride, then they receive a score (much like bull riding) and advance to the semi-finals.

FYI...the sheep nor the kids were injured during these rides.

Time for LUNCH!

Y'all, we wait ALL YEAR LONG for a fair Gyro.  It is the best with the shaved lamb, the marinated tomatoes, the tsatziki sauce piled high on a warm pita.

#isitOctober'17yet?

At this point in the day, there are any number of shows to check out...so many so that it is hard to choose which ones to attempt to see.

We decided on Robinson's Racing Pigs,

Eudora Farms Petting Zoo,

Sally the Camel

Zak the Yak

May Belle the African Watusi

(African Watusi are the largest horned cattle in the world)
(...horns reaching lengths of up to 8 feet)

& Page's White Tigers.

It was a super fun day at the fair!

I can't wait until next year!

Until Next Time,
Heather
