Let's talk about all the things that make Fall great...
Fall might just be my favorite season; of course I may just say that come Spring too.
I absolutely LOVE the cooler weather that Fall has to offer. The crisp morning air and the light evening breeze. I LOVE that I can open my windows, turn off the AC and let the fresh air fill my home. Along with the cooler air comes the obvious...
SCARVES!!!
I. LOVE. SCARVES!
My all time favorite scarf is the blanket scarf. It is big. It is bulky. It is the equivalent of having a warm blanket wrapped around you all day long.
Here is ONE way that you can tie/wear your blanket scarf. There are approximately 1,000,001 ways to wear a blanket scarf but this one looks oh so cute (& easy).
Blanket scarves...blankets...BONFIRES...
I love sitting around the fire, listening to classic country music, roasting marshmallows and eating s'mores. A few months back, while doing some research on Pinterest, I found this awesome s'more recipe. We've used it a few times and I LOVE it.
Fudge. Stripe. Cookies.
My recommendation is to refrigerate/freeze the cookies first...they seem to be a little less messy and hold up better to the hot marshmallow when cold.
You know what I think would be great to try...
a s'more made with Pumpkin Spice Fudge Stripes. Putting that on the "To Do" list for the weekend.
When I'm not wearing a scarf, you can find me in a hoodie. Hoodies are great...you can layer them over or under other clothes and they hide all imperfections.

Speaking of comfort...let's talk comfort food...SOUP!
I. LOVE. SOUP!
#givemeallthesoup
I can't even pick a favorite because I love them all, so instead, I'm going to share a couple of semi-homemade options for those times that you need something fast.
Tomato Soup
Start with a can of tomato soup and instead of adding a can of water...add a can of milk. Make sure to stir while heating so as not to scorch the milk but this will give you a creamy texture that is YUMMY!
Also, add Cheez-Its in place of saltine crackers ... Your Welcome.
Broccoli Cheese Soup
Once again, start by adding a can of milk while heating (on the stove, no microwaves), stirring continuously so as not to scorch.
Once heated through top with shredded cheddar cheese for some ooey gooey yumminess.
Then there are the holidays in Fall...
Halloween
Halloween is a night that I look forward to all year long. Our tradition is very laid back and doesn't include "horror" at all but it is what works for us. AB dresses up...she has chosen to be a Witch this year, and then we go to a nearby neighborhood and walk from house to house while she collects candy that we'll munch on until Easter.
I just LOVE walking through the neighborhood at dusk, a chill in the air (wearing a scarf & a hoodie), seeing all the creative costumes from adults and kids alike.
We then come back to the house where I have none other than SOUP simmering away in the crock pot.

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is my most absolute FAVORITE holiday out of the entire year. That is MY day...my day to relax and watch the Macy's Parade, my day to cook & bake and my day to host family at our home.
And my last, but certainly not least, Fall Favorite is getting lost in the corn maze. This is an annual date night tradition of Zane and I. We originally began this tradition with a corn maze in Cleveland, GA but it has since closed. So we now travel to Anderson, SC to Denver Downs.
We try to complete the corn maze but it is HARD. We enjoy warming up by the bonfire and riding the hay ride. We always go at night which just ups the challenge. They also have a haunted portion of the farm but I'm just not into that so I can't comment on it one way or the other. But if you are local and are looking for a fun outing for a date or to take the kiddos...give them a try; I promise you'll LOVE it!
And that is just a few reasons why I LOVE FALL.
What do you LOVE about Fall?
Until Next Time,
Heather
I have never thought to use fudge stripes with marshmallows! I MUST try this ASAP! My son, who LOVES fudge stripes, will lose his mind when I tell him about this revelation! If you love tomato soup, check out Pioneer Woman's Best Tomato Soup Ever if you want to mix it up. I, too, LOVE Thanksgiving! I love it for all the reasons you do! And my family has a Black Friday tradition of going to a local mall and getting our visit with Santa in. We are almost always the only ones there!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love Pioneer Women! I will definitely check out the recipe for tomato soup. I never thought about visiting Santa on Black Friday...that is a brilliant idea.
