Mountain Lakes Resort

Mountain Lakes Resort is a camping resort located in White County.  It is a private resort but thanks to some GREAT friends, that invited us to be their guest, we were able to enjoy this gem snuggled within the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Our first day of the trip was documented in my 10 on 10 post so I'll begin with Saturday.  We slept in and then started our day with a little hiking.

We couldn't find any published information on the particulars of this hike (distance, elevation...) so we just decided to wing it.  Wellll...it is was only a 3 minute walk into the woods, on flat ground, so I guess I should say "we started our day with a little stroll".

Next on the agenda...paddle boats!

As Z was peddling us around in circles, I decided to take a selfie with my girly girl.

Lexi was so dizzy from going in circles, she couldn't even keep her eyes open.

PSA:  If you are ever on open water with my dear hubby, make sure that you are the captain of the vessel!  He is the master of any piece of land equipment known to man but put him in the water and you can 'fugget about it'!!

I LOVE him anyway!!!

For the remainder of the afternoon we hung out at the water slide and by the pool.

See the water slide in the background...

Also note the "Golf Cart Parking"...the resort is so large and covers quite a bit of land so a lot of the members drive golf carts, gators or mules from place to place.

I did go down the slide but Z forgot to take a picture.  I got injured on the first run so I didn't attempt it again.

Back at the campground the girls played in the vacant lot next door while we prepped for supper.

Check out those grill marks!

Sunday morning we got up, ate breakfast, spent some more time relaxing by the lake and then packed up and headed home.  It was a GREAT weekend and I can't wait to go back.

A HUGE "Thank you" to our pals for the invite!

What was your favorite part of your weekend?

Until Next Time,
Heather

10 on 10

10 Photos on the 10th of the Month

June 2016

June 10, 2016 just so happened to be a vacation day for me and the hubs.  We had planned (back in April) to take the girls for a long weekend camping trip up to Mountain Lakes in White Co.  So this is a glimpse of my Friday...

Just patiently waiting our departure time...

AANNDD we're off!

Ready for some afternoon fun!

They swim...

I soak up the Vitamin D!

The BEST hotdogs EVER!  I have blogged about them before and the recipe can be found www.plainchicken.com.

**I have tried to get this link to work properly with little success but you can find the recipe by googling "plain chicken hot diggity dog"**

***And so NOW it seems to be working, go figure?!?**

At the golf cart drive-in movie.  They played Little Manhattan, which we had not seen.  It was a cute movie for both the kids and adults.

Someone didn't quite make it through the entire movie...

And there you have it...10 pictures that summarize my June 10th.  It was a great day and we slept REALLY well after our full day of activities.

What did your 10th look like?

Until Next Time,
Heather

Show and Tell Tuesday

What's in my bag?

Seriously though, at any given time I have a minimum of 3 "bags" on me...sometimes more, rarely less.

My bags consist of the following:

~My purse
~My "briefcase"
~My lunch bag

#1    My Purse

Just your average purse that just so happened to be purchased from Wal-Mart.  I'm definitely NOT a big spender when it comes to the type of purse in which I carry; I just want it to be pretty and functional.  The color is what drew my attention while shopping for this buy.

Contents of said purse:

...wallet, change purse, umbrella, keys, pen/pencil pouch, antibacterial hand gel, lipstick/chapstick clutch.

Not so typical ... GA State Parks Annual Membership, 35mm film (I have no idea what pictures are on it.  I should really take that to be developed!) and my daughter's wallet (which incidentally has more cash in it than mine).

#2    My Briefcase

I use this bag to carry larger items...

...my calendars, notepad, more pencils and markers (I love school supplies, anyone else?), my GA State Park/Waterfall folder (which I use often to plan camping/hiking/day trips), weekly menu planner, monthly bill organizer...you know ALL the things that you just can't leave home without but don't necessarily want to lug around the grocery store!

#3  My Lunchbag

The following items can always be found inside my lunchbag:

~tuna
~Triscuit crackers (dill, sea salt & olive oil is my FAVE)
~Special K bar

In addition there will usually be some added fruit and/or yogurt along with my water bottle.

So that is my Show and Tell Tuesday  :  What's in Your Bag

So now you spill the beans...what's in yours?

Until Next Time,
Heather

The Story of My Life

Here's a little glimpse of what has been going on in my neck of the woods over the last week or so...

Date Night!

For Christmas, we received gift certificates to California Dreaming and finally made time to use them.  Afterwards, we stopped for dessert to go at the Cheesecake Factory.

BEFORE
AFTER

Zane and I went kayaking down the Broad River with New Grace Hikes.

We survived.

Barely...

This girl helped me vote in our local election.

Someone lost a tooth...she pulled it herself after almost knocking it out with her "nerfle" gun (that's Nerf to you and I).

There was some backyard sprinkler action; she said it was COLD!

I hit the pavement running (literally).  I have slacked off in the "exercise" department but decided that now was as good a time as any to kick it back into gear.

Well that is some of the things that we've been up to lately.

What about you?

Until Next Time,
Heather

Watson Mill Bridge State Park

Memorial Day Weekend

2016

We decided back in April that we would spend our Memorial Day Weekend camping at Watson Mill Bridge State Park in Comer.  So we left out after work on Friday and arrived at the campsite around 6:30 ready for some much needed rest and relaxation.

Friday night we had our traditional marinated hotdogs for supper and they were delicious.

On Saturday we decided to go exploring.

Watson Mill Bridge

~longest covered bridge in GA
~built in 1885

It was a short stroll through the woods to get from the campground to the bridge & park.  After walking across the bridge (you can drive across it as well) we walked down to the river.  This became a very popular spot as the day progressed with young and old alike trying to beat the heat, playing in the water.

Someone decided to take a siesta...

And later, back at camp, I caught up on some reading...

The rest of the evening was spent by the fire.  We enjoyed turkey burgers for supper followed by s'mores for dessert.

Sunday morning brought rain...not a heavy downpour, just enough to keep you under cover.  So I continued my quest to finish my book while snuggling under a blanket.

The rain cleared out by mid-afternoon so we played some cards and AB biked.

She HATES to wear her helmet but she is convinced that the rangers will give us a "ticket" if she rides without it.

So we ended the night with more s'mores and sparklers!

We headed back home on Monday~rested, relaxed and ready for our next camping adventure.

What kept you busy over the holiday weekend?

Until Next Time,
Heather
